IMPORTANT : BIPHA SOUTH : Monday 16 March Update Regarding League | March 16
MESSAGE FROM THE BIPHA SOUTH EXEC COMMITTEE
I am writing to confirm that in light of the recent Government developements and an update from our own Governing Body, the BIPHA South Exec Committee have taken the decision to suspend the league with immediate effect. The dates below have been postponed. Here are the headlines....
- League suspended.
- Postponed games will be rescheduled at a TBC date.
- Decision to restart will be made after the Easter weekend.
- Nationals moved to September.
- Teams to fulfill the 2019/20 season by end of July/August.
- Saturday 21 March (Juniors)
- Sunday 22 March (Seniors)
- Sunday 29 March (Seniors)
- Saturday 4 April (Juniors)
- Sunday 5 April (VeevoD2 tournament)
It is our hope that the league can resume again on the weekend of 18 and 19 April with the fixtures that are already scheduled. We will provide an update on this again on or around Tuesday 14 April, after the Easter weekend. We appreciate this may mean postponing at short notice, but for the time being, we are using this as a 'restart weekend'.
What matches will be played when we restart? The website will not be updated, therefore the fixtures from 18 and 19 April onwards will be played as originally scheduled if we restart.
What will happen to the matches that have been postponed?
We have taken a proactive approach to this by already contacting the Lord Roberts Centre to secure rink time throughout June and July. The current plan is to reschedule all postponed games from the whole season in June and July according to the priorities set out by BIPHA NEC in the attached document. We will look at rescheduling once we have confidence in the league resuming.
What are our next steps?
For the League, we will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with the clubs, taking advice from NEC. For you the clubs, it would help the League if you could just ensure your match fees and finances are up-to-date. Match fees paid for games that have been postponed will be held on account for when the matches are played.
Training
Some people have asked about training and the Lord Roberts Centre. If clubs continue to train, this is their choice and they are responsible. The league only deals with weekend bookings and commitments at the LRC, so our recommendation is that individual clubs contact the LRC to confirm they are open.If you have any questions regarding the South league, please contact me via email or WhatsApp.
Thanks - Tim
